Concept to Teach: The students will experience the change from a thin to thick texture through the use of body movement and an ostinato pattern.

Teaching Adjectives With Music
Concept: The students will broaden their knowledge about adjectives through using them to describe both objects and music.

Music Lesson on Rhythm (Tempo)
Concept: The students will experience a fast and a slow tempo in music and create drawings the different tempos cause them to think of .
Grade Level: Second or Third

Music Lesson on Melody and Rhythm
Concept: The students will predict what music from different cultures sounds like based on what they have heard through the media, movies, etc. They will then listen to music from these nations and compare how their predicted music differed. They will also note any differences in melody and rhythm between the various cultures and our own.
Grade Level: Fourth or Fifth

Pitch and Other Lessons

• Concept/Objective: Pitch -- do re mi; move to low, middle, and high pitches.
  Concept/Objective: Pitch, melodic direction; match a melodic pattern with a visual representation, describe the shape of a phrase using a visual representation.
  Concept/Objective: Duration (dotted half note, whole note, and whole rest); Students will gesture to show recognition of durations of the previous notes.
  Concept/Objective: Rhythm/To practice using rhythmic notation for quarter, half, and eighth notes.
  Concept/Objective: Dynamics/To hear and learn or review dynamic levels and their corresponding symbols.
  Concept/Objective: Ascending Form/To perceive steps moving in an upward direction.
  Concept/Objective: To accompany a song with bells, triangle, or finger cymbals.
  Concept/Objective: Melody/A series of pitches may move up or down by steps or skips.
  Concept/Objective: Pitch; High and Low/Move at high and low levels to show distinction between high and low in recorded music.
  Concept/Objective: Long and Short/Students will perform movements in response to longer and shorter sounds.

Rhymes
Concept: The students will broaden their knowledge about rhymes through looking at poetry, books, and songs.

Concept: Students will experience the idea of beginning, middle, and end in a variety of situations including literary and musical.

Concept: The students will discover opposites with: books, discussions, and songs.

Concept: me students will learn music can be remembered with the help of pictures that they draw to remember it.
