Kindergarten teachers! They're
special people and who can't remember their own kindergarten teacher? For me, it was Mrs.
Williams who made learning so exciting, I couldn't even take the required nap time very
well. For my daughters, it was Mrs. Wood in Minnesota and Mrs. Rosenau in Oregon.
As a tribute to the "Williams, Wood's, and
Rosenau's" of the world whose inspired teaching made a difference in the lives of
young learners, I dedicate this website to all kindergarten teachers. You will find links
to kindergarten classrooms and resources that are age-appropriate for use in the
classroom. --Dr. Mills

Surfing for ABC's
Published Project Tammy Payton from Loogootee Elementary West in Indiana has one of
the best sites I have seen! She published the project created by Kindergarteners and First
Graders! This site shows you what they discovered on the Internet by searching for topics
beginning with every letter of the alphabet. The children used Yahooligans search engine
to find their abc topics. Be sure to visit this site.
Integrating
Technology in the Classroom Tammy Payton just put a slide presentation on the Internet
that shows an example of how you can set up centers within your classroom so you can
rotate your computer in and out of your curriculum as well as tips on how to develop your
computer curriculum and Internet.
Yahooligans Yahoo is one
of the more popular collections of Web sites and they have recently created a special
corner for kids called, appropriately, Yahooligans. Kindergarten children can perform
searches on the Internet with "Yahooligans."
"Kinder
Garden!" That's right, it is really a "Kinder Garden!" This site is an
introduction to the many ways children can interact with plants and the outdoors. Gardens
can be therapeutic for people. At Texas A&M University,
in College Station, TX, there is research in progress in the Department of Horticultural Sciences studying
these human issues in horticulture. Some of the topics of this research include children,
educational issues, elderly women, horticulture in prisons, and urban horticulture. As part of
our children's gardening research program, we are interested in what adults think are the
effects of gardening on children. If you are or have been involved in any gardening
activities with children, this is the website for you.
